Common causes
A shock sensor set too sensitive reacts to passing trucks, thunder and wind. A weak car battery can cause erratic behavior. A faulty door, hood or trunk switch can look like someone opening it.
What you can check
Replace the remote battery. Check that the hood, trunk and doors close fully. Note when the alarm sounds, because patterns point to causes.
What a tune-up does
An installer can lower the sensitivity, test every input and replace a failing sensor. We also check the car battery, because a weak battery can disrupt an alarm.
When to call for help
If the alarm goes off more than once in a week for no reason, or if it goes off when the weather is calm, something is wrong. A tune-up is usually quick and often fixes the problem for good.
Quick answers
Why does my alarm go off at night?
Temperature changes, wind and passing traffic are common triggers. Sensitivity can be adjusted.
Can I just disconnect it?
Please do not. A disconnected alarm protects nothing. Get it adjusted.
