Power Door Lock Actuator Installation by Nashville Car Alarm

A remote can only lock what has a motor. If your doors have manual locks, a small actuator is fitted inside each door, linked to the lock mechanism and wired to the keyless entry or security system.

It is careful work: panels come off, linkage is measured and routed away from the window and door mechanisms, and wiring is run through the door boot with the same care the factory takes.

What the install involves

Each door panel is removed and the lock rod or cable is located. The actuator is mounted securely, the linkage is adjusted so the lock moves fully and quietly and the wiring is loomed and protected.

We test every door for full travel, then test it with the remote and with the manual lock to make sure both work.

When it makes sense

Older trucks, work vehicles and base-model cars are the most common candidates. If you are already adding an alarm, it is the right time to add actuators too.

Questions

Good questions about door lock actuators.

Can I still lock the doors by hand?

Yes. The actuators move the lock; the manual lock still works.

Is it noisy?

A well-adjusted actuator makes a short, quiet sound.

Will it damage my door panels?

Careful panel removal and clip care keep panels in good shape.
