Remote Trunk and Tailgate Release by Nashville Car Alarm

If the trunk already has an electric release, a Viper remote can trigger it with one of its auxiliary outputs. If it does not, a trunk release solenoid is fitted so the latch can open at the press of a button.

It is one of the most appreciated small add-ons for people who carry groceries, gear or children.

How it is done

An auxiliary output on the control unit is wired to the existing release or to a new solenoid, and a button on the remote is assigned to it. The installer routes the wire through the trunk hinge area in a protected loom.

Vehicles with a power liftgate often have a signal that can be used instead.

Plan around your remote

Some remotes have a dedicated trunk button; others use a two-button press. We explain it as part of the demo.
