Most alarms start with one sensor that feels impact. That catches a bump, but it does not catch a quiet window break, a tow or a tilt, or a hand reaching through a soft top.
Viper’s add-on sensors close those gaps: an audio glass-break sensor, a shock sensor, a tilt sensor, a cabin sensor and a field disturbance sensor.
What each sensor watches
Shock sensor: impacts and jolts. Audio glass-break sensor: the sound of breaking glass. Tilt sensor: raising or tilting, as with towing or wheel theft. Cabin sensor: movement in the interior. Field disturbance sensor: something disturbing a field around or inside the vehicle.
Using several types lowers the chance that one clever approach defeats the system, and it lets each sensor be set to a more relaxed sensitivity.
Where they go
Placement is part of the job. Sensors are mounted where they work best and are hard to find, and their wires are looped into the existing harness.
