A hidden switch, a relay and a few feet of wire can stop a car that a thief thought they had started.

A starter kill switch interrupts a circuit the engine needs in order to start. If the circuit is open, the key can turn and the engine will not crank, or it will crank and not catch. It is one of the oldest and most effective theft barriers there is.
It works best when it is unexpected. A thief who has defeated the ignition does not know there is a second barrier, and a car that does not start is a car they abandon. We install concealed starter kill switches on their own and as part of alarm systems.
A hidden manual switch is simple and has no electronics to fail, but you have to remember it. A relay-based interrupt is automatic when you arm the alarm. A remote-controlled kill is the most convenient and is usually part of an alarm or SmartStart system.
Many owners combine a relay-based interrupt in the alarm with a hidden manual switch as a second barrier.
Placement is the whole game. We mount switches where you can reach them without looking and where a stranger would not think to look, and we run the wiring so it looks factory.
For vehicles that were targeted by theft trends, such as certain Hyundai and Kia models, starter kill switches are one of the most useful additions.
