Hidden manual switch
A toggle or push switch hidden under trim. You flip it every time you park. It needs no electronics and no battery and it is easy to understand. The weakness is human: if you forget, there is no barrier.
Relay-based starter interrupt
A relay opens the starter or ignition circuit when the alarm is armed. It is automatic, so you cannot forget, and it is already built into Viper security systems.
Remote-controlled kill
Controlled from your alarm remote or your phone. It is the most convenient and is the natural choice if you already have SmartStart Pro.
Fuel pump interrupt
A second kill point on the fuel pump circuit. It is useful when the starter is hard to interrupt or when you want two barriers.
Combining them
The strongest approach is two different barriers that a thief would have to find and defeat separately: for example, an alarm’s automatic interrupt plus a hidden manual switch.
How to choose in one minute
Want zero effort? Relay-based or remote-controlled. Want zero electronics? Hidden manual switch. Want to double up? Combine a relay-based interrupt with a hidden switch. Want to protect an older vehicle that has nothing? Start with the hidden switch.
Quick answers
Which is best?
Two different types together are stronger than any one alone.
Do kill switches hurt the car?
Not when installed correctly.
