Analog systems
Traditional systems use relays and connect to the car through individual wires. They have been around a long time and work well on many vehicles.
Digital systems
A digital system talks to the vehicle’s data network through an integrated interface. It often needs fewer extra boxes, can use the factory remote and can be configured wirelessly.
Viper’s digital line is the DS series: the DS3 and DS3P, and the DS4 and DS4P with Bluetooth.
The P models
A P in the name means high-current relays, for vehicles that need extra output.
Which to choose
If your vehicle is modern, a digital system is often the cleaner choice. If it is older, an analog system may be simpler. We help you decide.
What owners notice
Owners of digital systems often mention that wireless setup and factory-remote start make everyday use simpler, and that the install under the dash looks tidier. Owners of simpler analog systems often mention that they just work. Both are reasonable.
Quick answers
Is digital always better?
Not always. It depends on the vehicle.
Does DS4 need a phone?
The DS4 has Bluetooth for phone control and programming. You can still use remotes.
